This species is smaller than other 'fan-foot' species.

Pupates in leaf litter or in a bark crevice.
Overwinters as Overwinters as a pupa.
Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.
Often disturbed during day

Forewing length: 11-13mm.
Foodplant(s): Pedunculate Oak (withered leaves) (Quercus robur), birches (Betula spp.), Hazel (Corylus avellana), Alder (Alnus glutinosa), hawthorns (Crataegus spp.), Bramble (Rubus fruticosus), Traveller's-joy (Clematis vitalba), broadleaved trees
Flying: One generation, early June-late August

Habitat

Broadleaved woodland, scrub, fens, heathland and gardens.

Recorded in 90 (33.3%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
