General Information

Although there is only one generation, this species emerges in early summer, becomes inactive in July and reappears again in July and August.

 

The larvae have never been found in the wild.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.
Both sexes come to light.

Forewing length: 18-22mm.
Foodplant(s): Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale), Perennial Sow-thistle (Sonchus arvensis), docks (Rumex spp.)
Flying: One generation, June-September
UK Presence: Resident

Habitat

Meadows and damp marshes. Sometimes drier areas.

Regional Information

Recorded in 27 (10%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.

Last recorded in July 1996

Recorded date range (Adult): 18 June to 12 September
