General Information

A distinctive but quite variable yellow species.


Wingspan: 15-24 mm.
Foodplant(s): thistles (Carduus spp.)
Flying: Two overlapping generations, June-August
National status: Common

Habitat

Grassland, fens, open woodland, heathland, waste places and gardens.

Regional Information

Recorded in 147 (54.4%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
