General Information

Pupates in loose soil.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a pupa.
Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.

Forewing length: 14-19mm.
Foodplant(s): Common Nettle (Urtica dioica), Fat-hen (Chenopodium album), willowherbs (Epilobium spp.), St John's-worts (Hypericum spp.), Traveller's-joy (Clematis vitalba), Black Bindweed (Fallopia convolvulus), Tamarisk (Tamarix gallica), English Elm (Ulmus procera), Hazel (Corylus avellana), Common Hop (Humulus lupulus), broadleaved shrubs
Flying: One generation, May-late July
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Gardens, cultivated land, heathland and woodland rides.

Regional Information

Recorded in 147 (54.4%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
