General Information

Pupates in a cocoon attached to the underside of a leaf.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.
Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.

Forewing length: 16-19mm.
Foodplant(s): Common Nettle (Urtica dioica), White Dead-nettle (Lamium album), Wild Marjoram (Origanum vulgare), Lesser Burdock (Arctium minus), Spear Thistle (Cirsium vulgare), herbaceous plants
Flying: One/two generations, June-July and August-November
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Gardens, hedgerows, meadows and waste ground.

Regional Information

Recorded in 133 (49.3%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
