General Information

This moth has a black head, and a purple/golden forewing with a silver fascia.

 

The larvae form a narrow gallery mine which often follows the leaf margin.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a pupa.

Wingspan: 5-6mm.
Foodplant(s): elms (Ulmus spp.)
Flying: Two generations, May and August
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Regional Information

Recorded in 213 (78.9%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
