General Information

This species is the only white-legged member of the genus found in the UK. Even so, it can easily be mistaken for a faded specimen of the common S. bipunctidactyla.


Wingspan: 16-23mm.
Foodplant(s): Centaury (Erythraea centaurium), Yellow-wort (Blackstonia perfoliata), gentians (Gentiana spp.)
Flying: Two overlapping generations, July-September
National status: Local

Habitat

Sea-cliffs, sandhills, grassland and other chalky or dry pastures.

Regional Information

Recorded in 2 (0.7%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
