General Information

This moth has an orange head, a golden greenish bronze forewing with the apical quarter being deep purple.

 

The larvae create a long sinuous gallery mine which crosses and turns back on itself.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a pupa.

Wingspan: 5-6 mm.
Foodplant(s): roses (Rosa spp.), Burnet Rose (Rosa pimpinellifolia)
Flying: Two generations, May and August
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Recorded in 204 (75.6%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
