General Information

The male is larger than the female and females are flightless, but have been seen gliding to the ground. A melanic form occurs in industrial areas.

Male readily comes to light, sometimes in numbers. Female not.

Wingspan: 19-29 mm
Flying: One generation, March-May
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common
