General Information

This species has a distinct black spot centrally on the forewing and a blackish patch at the wingtip which are diagnostic features.

 

The larvae initially mine leaves and then feed gregariously from a silken web.

Both sexes come to light.

Wingspan: 17-19mm
Foodplant(s): Spindle (Euonymus europaeus)
Flying: Two overlapping generations, June-August
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Regional Information

Recorded in 20 (7.4%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
