General Information

This species is quite variable but has a broad whitish basal streak.

 

The larvae produce a small triangular blotch mine.


Wingspan: 7-9 mm
Foodplant(s): Alder (Alnus glutinosa)
Flying: Two generations, May and August
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Wet woodland, fens and hedgerows

Regional Information

Recorded in 48 (17.8%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.

Last recorded in April 2022

Recorded date range (Adult): 08 April to 05 September

Recorded date range (Larva/Leafmine): 03 June to 13 November
