General Information

This species is very similar to the Uncertain and genital examination is required for a positive id. In general, the Rustic is more variable in colour and is usually greyer.

 

Pupates in loose soil.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.
Both sexes come to light.

Forewing length: 13-16mm.
Foodplant(s): chickweeds (Stellaria spp.), docks (Rumex spp.), plantains (Plantago spp.), herbaceous plants
Flying: One generation, late June-mid August
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Almost anywhere.

Regional Information

Recorded in 130 (48.1%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
