Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.

Forewing length: 16-20mm.
Foodplant(s): oaks (Quercus spp.), hawthorns (Crataegus spp.), Apple (Malus domestica), sallows (Salix spp.), Aspen (Populus tremula), Barberry (Berberis vulgaris), honeysuckles (Lonicera spp.), broadleaved shrubs
Flying: One/two generations, May-late July and August

Grassland, woodland, fens and scrub.
