General Information

The larvae of this species are known as 'bagworms' or 'case-bearers'. Adult females are wingless and grub-like in appearance.

 

The larval case is often found attached to tree trunks, foliage or wooden fences.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.

Wingspan: 12-15 mm
Foodplant(s): cut grass, lichen, decaying plant matter
Flying: One generation, May-July
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common
