This is the smallest moth found in the UK. It has a bronzy brown forewing with a silver fascia and a purple suffusion.

The larvae create a distinctive fine gallery which forms a spiral around the egg shell. The inner ring turns bright red before the larvae make an irregular gallery across the leaf.
