General Information

This species is very distinctive, with yellow markings on a chocolate-brown forewing.

 

Moths can be found in the afternoons on the flowers of Hogweed.

Flies during the day

Wingspan: 9-13 mm.
Foodplant(s): Common Hogweed (Heracleum sphondylium)
Flying: One generation, June-July
National status: Common

Habitat

Waysides, gardens, open woodland and hillsides.

Regional Information

Recorded in 22 (8.1%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.

Last recorded in May 2022

Recorded date range (Adult): 17 May to 12 August
