General Information

This is one of three species in which the adults can only be reliably identified by genital dissection.

 

The larvae product a long, contorted gallery mine.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a pupa.

Wingspan: c.5-7 mm.
Foodplant(s): oaks (Quercus spp.), Sweet Chestnut (Castanea sativa)
Flying: Two generations, June and July-August
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Proposed Red Data Book

Regional Information

Recorded in 25 (9.3%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
