General Information

This moth has a diagnostic white head and and extra white subapical spot on the forewing.

 

The larvae form a narrow downward mine that broadens gradually and is greenish. Larvae overwinter within the mine.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.

Wingspan: 10-11mm
Foodplant(s): Cock's-foot (Dactylis glomerata), Creeping Soft-grass (Holcus mollis), Tufted Hair-grass (Deschampsia cespitosa)
Flying: One generation, April-July

Habitat

Woodland clearings.

Regional Information

Recorded in 11 (4.1%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
