General Information

This moth has a black head and coppery-purple forewings with a straight, metallic golden fascia.

 

The larvae mine a very long sinuous gallery.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a pupa.

Wingspan: 4-5mm.
Foodplant(s): Dewberry (Rubus caesius), avens (Geum spp.)
Flying: Two generations, April-May and August
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Regional Information

Recorded in 52 (19.3%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.

Last recorded in September 2022

Recorded date range (Larva/Leafmine): 15 January to 17 November
