General Information

This species is difficult to distinguish from some of the other members of the Ypsolopha genus, but its narrower forewings can be diagnostic.

Overwinters as Overwinters as an adult.
Both sexes come to light.

Wingspan: 15-20mm
Foodplant(s): oaks (Quercus spp.)
Flying: One generation, August-April (hibernates)
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Oak woodland.

Regional Information

Recorded in 25 (9.3%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.

Last recorded in February 2024
