General Information
The vernacular name of this species refers to the forewing markings which appear to show an old lady or witch's head, refering to 'Old Mother Shipton', the 16th century Yorkshire witch.

Pupates between grass stems or in loose soil.
Overwinters as Overwinters as a pupa.
Flies during the day

Forewing length: 13-16mm.
Foodplant(s): clovers (Trifolium spp.), Lucerne (Medicago sativa), Common Bird's-foot-trefoil (Lotus corniculatus), Black Medick (Medicago lupulina), Cock's-foot (Dactylis glomerata), grasses
