General Information

This species has distinct mottling to the forewing, with several dark dots along the leading edge.

 

Pupates in loose soil.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.
Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.

Forewing length: 12-15mm.
Foodplant(s): cut grass, cereals, plantains (seeds) (Plantago spp.), Garden Pea (Pisum sativum)
Flying: Two generations, May-July and August-October
UK Presence: Immigrant, Possible Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Grassland, scrub, open woodland and gardens.

Regional Information

Recorded in 97 (35.9%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
