General Information

Pupates inside a dead reed stem.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.
Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.

Forewing length: 18-20mm.
Foodplant(s): Common Reed (Phragmites australis)
Flying: One generation, mid May-mid July
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Local

Habitat

Reedbeds, fens, marshes, riversides, estuaries and reedy margins of ponds and lakes.

Regional Information

Recorded in 23 (8.5%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.

Last recorded in July 2023

Recorded date range (Adult): 25 May to 02 August
