Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing (Noctua fimbriata, (Schreber, 1759))

General Information
This moth is sexually dimorphic in that the males are generally shades of dark-brown and the females are more orangey-buff.

Pupates in loose soil.
Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.
Both sexes come to light.

Forewing length: 22-27mm.
Foodplant(s): Common Nettle (Urtica dioica), Broad-leaved Dock (Rumex obtusifolius), Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea), Bramble (Rubus fruticosus), hawthorns (Crataegus spp.), sallows (Salix spp.), privets (Ligustrum spp.), broadleaved shrubs
Flying: One generation, July-September

Broadleaved woodland and well-wooded areas.
