General Information

The dark patch patch at the top of the forewing and the dark outer cross-band, contrasting with creamy white identify this moth. When newly emerged, there is a coating of blue/grey scales.

 

Pupates in leaf litter or loose soil.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a pupa.
Both sexes come to light.
Often disturbed during day

Forewing length: 12-14mm.
Foodplant(s): Spindle (Euonymus europaeus)
Flying: Two generations, late April-June and late July-early September
UK Presence: Resident

Habitat

Broadleaved woodland, scrub and hedgerow.

Recorded in 89 (33%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
