Pupates in leaf litter.

Overwinters as Overwinters as an egg.
Male readily comes to light, sometimes in numbers. Female not.
Flies during the day

Forewing length: 11-15mm.
Foodplant(s): Bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus), Heather (Calluna vulgaris), sallows (Salix spp.), Greater Stitchwort (Stellaria holostea), Red Campion (Silene dioica), willowherbs (Epilobium spp.), Cow Parsley (Anthriscus sylvetris), plants and shrubs
Flying: One generation, June-August
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Moorland, woodland and hedgerows.

Recorded in 68 (25.2%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
