General Information

This moth has a unique and unmistakable resting posture.

 

Pupates in leaf litter.

Overwinters as Overwinters as an egg.
Both sexes come to light.
Often disturbed during day

Forewing length: 15-18mm.
Foodplant(s): cleavers (Galium aparine), bedstraws (Galium spp.)
Flying: One generation, late May-early September
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Grassland, heathland, scrub, open woodland.

Regional Information

Recorded in 146 (54.1%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
