General Information

In addition to the normal form there is a well-marked variation, f. fibrosa, which is just as frequent, as well as several intermediate forms.

 

Pupates in leaf litter.

Overwinters as Overwinters as an egg.
Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.

Forewing length: 14-17mm.
Foodplant(s): Yellow Iris (Iris pseudacorus), Great Fen-sedge (Cladium mariscus)
Flying: One generation, late July-September
UK Presence: Resident, Possible Immigrant
National status: Local

Habitat

Fens, marshes, riversides, margins of lakes and ditches.

Regional Information

Recorded in 29 (10.7%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
