General Information

Pupates in loose soil.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.
Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.

Forewing length: 14-17mm.
Foodplant(s): Tufted Hair-grass (Deschampsia cespitosa), Annual Meadow-grass (Poa annua), Common Couch (Elytrigia repens), Cock's-foot (Dactylis glomerata), grasses
Flying: Two generations, June-July and August-October
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Grassland, heathand, open woodland, fens, scrub and gardens.

Regional Information

Recorded in 155 (57.4%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
