General Information

Pupates in loose soil.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.
Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.

Forewing length: 15-17mm.
Foodplant(s): Hedge Bedstraw (Galium mollugo), Ribwort Plantain (Plantago lanceolata), Bramble (Rubus fruticosus), Bluebell (Hyacinthoides non-scripta), Water Figwort (Scrophularia auriculata)
Flying: One generation, July-August
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Damp woodlands and marshy habitats.

Regional Information

Recorded in 81 (30%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.

Last recorded in August 2025
