General Information

Pupates in a cocoon attached to a twig.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.
Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.

Forewing length: 8-10mm.
Foodplant(s): hawthorns (Crataegus spp.), Blackthorn (Prunus spinosa), Apple (Malus domestica), pears (Pyrus spp.), plums (Prunus spp.)
Flying: One generation, June-July
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Scrub, woodland, grassland with scrub and fens.

Regional Information

Recorded in 90 (33.3%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
