General Information

Pupates in leaf litter.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a pupa.
Both sexes come to light.
Often disturbed during day

Forewing length: 9-11mm.
Foodplant(s): Hazel (Corylus avellana), Hornbeam (Carpinus betulus), birches (Betula spp.), Wild Rose (Rosa acicularis)
Flying: One/two generations, May-early July and August-mid September
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Broadleaved woodland and heathland habitats.

Regional Information

Recorded in 13 (4.8%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
