General Information

This species can be identified by its diagnostic orange or yellowish abdomen.

 

Pupates on the ground.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a pupa.
Both sexes come to light.
Often disturbed during day

Forewing length: 8-9mm.
Foodplant(s): Traveller's-joy (Clematis vitalba), clematis (Clematis spp.)
Flying: One generation, June-July
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Local

Habitat

Open woodland and hedgerows, chalky or limestone downs.

Regional Information

Recorded in 23 (8.5%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.

Last recorded in July 2022
