General Information

This is a variable species with colours ranging from yellow to dark brown.

 

Pupates between spun leaves on the food plant.

Overwinters as Overwinters as an egg.
Both sexes come to light.

Forewing length: 13-19mm.
Foodplant(s): sallows (Salix spp.), willows (Salix spp.), Aspen (Populus tremula), poplars (Populus spp.)
Flying: One generation, July-mid September
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Moorland, sandy and woodland areas.

Regional Information

Recorded in 20 (7.4%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.

Last recorded in September 2023
