General Information

Quite variable in colour, but forewing pattern and upright resting position make it easily recognisable.

Overwinters as Doesn't overwinter in the UK.
Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.

Forewing length: 12-14mm.
Foodplant(s): Knotgrass (Polygonium aviculare), herbaceous plants
Flying: Arriving April-November (mostly August-October)
UK Presence: Immigrant
National status: Common

Habitat

Warm, sunny open places.

Regional Information

Recorded in 34 (12.6%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
