General Information

The English name derives from the fact that the larvae live in beehives feeding on the honeycomb.


Wingspan: 29-40 mm.
Foodplant(s): honeycomb from beehives
Flying: One generation, June-October
National status: Common

Habitat

Gardens, woodland, heathland.

Regional Information

Recorded in 54 (20%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
