General Information

This moth has distinctly orange markings.

 

The larvae bore into the base of pine needles, later entering the lateral buds.


Wingspan: 16-24 mm.
Foodplant(s): pines (Pinus spp.)
Flying: Two generations, June and August
National status: Local

Habitat

Pine forests and plantations.

Regional Information

Recorded in 13 (4.8%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.

Last recorded in August 2022

Recorded date range (Adult): 16 June to 14 August
