General Information

This moth is quite variable and has many different forms. A distinctive dorsal blotch is often present, which can be darker or lighter than the ground colour.


Wingspan: 16-21 mm.
Foodplant(s): birches (Betula spp.), Hazel (Corylus avellana), sallows (Salix spp.)
Flying: One generation, June-September
National status: Common

Habitat

Woodland and scrubby habitats.

Regional Information

Recorded in 10 (3.7%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
