General Information

This is one of three similar relatives. It can be distinguished by the diagnostic blackish head/palps and blackish thorax.


Wingspan: 12-16 mm.
Foodplant(s): ragworts (Senecio spp.)
Flying: Two generations, May-June and August
National status: Common

Habitat

Coastal areas and to a lesser extent inland chalk downs and rough pastureland.

Regional Information

Recorded in 71 (26.3%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.

Last recorded in April 2024
