General Information

This moth very rarely comes to light but can be seen feeding after dark. It can be distinguished from A. pallorella and A. bipunctosa by the rusty orange streaked colouration of its forewings.

Overwinters as Overwinters as an egg.
Both sexes come to light but in small numbers only.

Foodplant(s): knapweeds (Centaurea spp.)
Flying: One generation, July-September
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Roadsides and other open grassy areas.

Regional Information

Recorded in 7 (2.6%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
