General Information

This species has a metallic-gold forewing with a purplish-bronze tinge to the area around the base of the forewings when fresh. The antennae have a white mark close to the tip. The head is yellow.

Wingspan: 12-14mm
Foodplant(s): lime (Tilia spp.), Small-leaved Lime (Tilia cordata)
Flying: Two generations, May-June and July-September

National status: Common

Habitat

Woodland, heathland, scrub and fens.

Recorded in 11 (4.1%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
