General Information

This species can be distinguished from other Yponomeuta species by the terminal cilia on the forewing which are pure white as opposed to greyish.

 

The larvae feed gregariously from a silken web.

Both sexes come to light.

Wingspan: 19-26mm
Foodplant(s): Spindle (Euonymus europaeus), Evergreen Euonymus (Euonymus japonica)
Flying: One generation, July-August
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Calcareous soils where foodplant occurs.

Regional Information

Recorded in 63 (23.3%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
