General Information

This species was first recorded in the UK in London in 1982. It was probably imported with garden conifers like Juniper or Leyland Cypress.

 

The three distinct white cross-bands, which give it its latin name, are diagnostic.

Flies during the day

Wingspan: 8-9mm
Foodplant(s): Common Juniper (Juniperus communis), cedars (Cedrus spp.), cypresses (Cypressus spp.)
Flying: One generation, May-June
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Local

Recorded in 26 (9.6%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
