General Information

This species has characteristic orange or yellow markings against a metallic grey ground colour.

 

The larvae initially produce a very twisted gallery and later form a contorted cone.

Both sexes come to light.

Wingspan: 9-10mm
Foodplant(s): Perforate St John's-wort (Hypericum perforatum), Slender St John's-wort (Hypericum pulchrum)
Flying: Two generations, May and August
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Recorded in 30 (11.1%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
