General Information

The males of this species sometimes fly up to an hour before dark on warm evenings.

 

Pupates in a cocoon near the ground.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.
Flies during the day

Forewing length: M 12-15mm. F 11-13mm.
Foodplant(s): Common Sorrel (Rumex acetosa), Sheep's Sorrel (Rumex acetosella)
Flying: One generation, May-July
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Local

Habitat

Open habitats, damp grassland, chalk downland, heathland, wwodland clearings, sandy heaths.

Recorded in 4 (1.5%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
