Pupates in loose soil.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.
Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.

Forewing length: 16-21mm.
Foodplant(s): Common Nettle (Urtica dioica), Broad-leaved Dock (Rumex obtusifolius), Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea), Bramble (Rubus fruticosus), hawthorns (Crataegus spp.), sallows (Salix spp.), Broom (Cytisus scoparius), broadleaved shrubs
Flying: One generation, June-September
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Everywhere.
