General Information

This species has three raised scale tufts which are visible when the moth is at rest.

Both sexes come to light.

Wingspan: 15-21mm
Foodplant(s): hawthorns (Crataegus spp.), Apple (Malus domestica)
Flying: One generation, July-September
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Common

Habitat

Open woodland and gardens.

Regional Information

Recorded in 86 (31.9%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.
