General Information

This species is considered by some authorities to be a saltmarsh race of the Common Wainscot.

 

Pupates in loose soil.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a larva.
Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.

Forewing length: 16-18mm.
Foodplant(s): Common Saltmarsh-grass (Puccinellia maritima), grasses
Flying: One/two generations, mid June-late July and September
UK Presence: Resident
National status: Nationally Scarce B

Habitat

Coastal and esturine saltmarshes.

Regional Information

There are no records in the system yet in Huntingdonshire.
