General Information

This species has a diagnostic forewing shape, with a straight leading edge which is curved towards the tip. Similar yellow forms of Dingy and Buff Footman are larger and later in year.

 

Pupates amongst lichens.

Overwinters as Overwinters as a pupa.
Both sexes readily come to light, sometimes in numbers.
Often disturbed during day

Forewing length: 13-16mm.
Foodplant(s): arboreal lichen
Flying: One generation, late May-June
UK Presence: Resident, Possible Immigrant
National status: Local

Habitat

Mature oak and beech woodland and scrub.

Regional Information

Recorded in 55 (20.4%) of the 270 2km squares of Huntingdonshire.

Last recorded in June 2023
