General Information

The larvae feed in the bark of the foodplant, exuding red frass from crevices. The larval workings are easily found but the adults are seldom seen.

Foodplant(s): oaks (Quercus spp.), Horse-chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum)
Flying: One generation, June-July
UK Presence: Resident

Open woodland.
